Genesis BBQ Honors Korean War Veterans with Acts of Gratitude Across North America

In July of last year, a group of Korean War veterans from South Korea visited the BBQ Canmore location in Alberta as part of their annual commemorative group event. Upon learning that the group consisted of veterans who had bravely fought to defend Korea during the 6.25 War, the owner of the Canmore location made a heartfelt gesture by covering the cost of their meals.

Moved by this act of kindness, the veterans returned at the end of 2024, dressed in formal attire, to personally present the Canmore store with a plaque of appreciation on behalf of the Korean War Veterans Association. The group is also planning another visit to the location in July 2025.

In recognition of this meaningful exchange, BBQ Canada has expressed its gratitude by offering support at the corporate level, including providing meat supplies to the Canmore location free of charge. The company is also preparing a special event to show appreciation for both the veterans and the franchise’s generosity.

This is not the first time Genesis BBQ Group has honored Korean War veterans. From 2023, bbdotqusa has collaborated with its U.S. franchises to donate $10,000 to a U.S. veterans’ organization as a token of respect and gratitude. Furthermore, on Veterans Day, BBQ offered a 25% discount at all U.S. locations to active-duty and retired military personnel who presented a military ID.
